What is the difference between a DJane to a chef?

Is it possible to mingle the sensory input of beats and tastes?

Does body movement have to be distinguished into one (dancing) or the other (snipping)? 

The Beats Soup event invites the audience to join in the mingling of senses. 

The setting is made of a long table with a DJane on one side. The rest is occupied by vegetables,

fruit and more eatable ingredients as well as cooking utensils. Around the table are people who cook/boil/move/cut/eat/smell/touch/bounce/taste/feed/snip/dance.

Speakers surround their bodies in music and maybe influence the way the smells of the dishes

wander around the room, too. The rather chaotic scenery is a tool to suspend the usual behaviour

for some time before people start taking in positions again. Some start cooking for everyone else,

some start tasting the absurdist combinations, some start telling the stories and memories they got

to share from their homes. Beats Soup is a participatory event to pose the questions mentioned above,

to experience a communal moment through several senses and to be surprised by the dynamics of humans

who dance and eat together. 

2018: We cleaned the space, brought kitchen wear and electric appliance. We washed the ingredients and set up the playlist. Once visitors had started to make use of their hands, everyone got involved. Strangers started to feed each other and I could watch people getting so excited with what they had made, that they would let others taste first, risking not to taste their own creation. Instead, they trusted into the tongues of others and tasted what might have been an unknown flavour.
