SisyphFYI
is a triptych consisting of:

  • a lithography 'Wolllustorgan'
  • a film 'The Organ of Lust'
  • and an essay 'Root of Pleasure'

The work draws attention to the history of female lust, focusing on the clitoris, the organ that exists solely for the sensation of pleasure. The title of the work is a combination of Sisyphus and FYI (for your interest).

Wolllust

The anatomical drawings date from 1844 and were published in the book "Die männlichen und weiblichen Wollust-Organe des Menschen und einiger Säugetiere" by Dr G. L. Kobelt. As the drawings from the original work are available only in low resolution, I enlarged and redrew them before printing them as lithographs. The new original measures 108 x 76 cm.

The Organ of Lust

The film documents the development of the lithographic print. It is an analogy to the history of the organ itself.

Root of Pleasure

The essay tells the story of the organ and how it has been treated throughout history. It gives references to different eras and people who were socially/publicly recognized at the time. It is intended to facilitate access and dissemination of drawings and content. It has been translated from German into English and French. The English version can be found below.
